End of project

The VACSATC project ended in 2009, but the hopes are for the collaboration to live on.

Hungarian website accredited

The immunisation website developed by the National Center for Epidemiology in Hungary has been added to the WHO Vaccine Safety Net. Visit the website www.oltasbiztonsag.hu and the WHO Vaccine Safety Net

Poster at ESPID

An abstract for a poster on the VACSATC project has been accepted for presentation at The European Society for Paediatric Infectious Diseases Annual Meeting (ESPID) in Nice, France, 4-8 May 2010. ESPID conference website.

Swedish website accredited

The website for the Swedish Institute for Infectious Disease Control has been added to the WHO Vaccine Safety Net. Visit the vaccine pages of the Swedish website here.

Report in Vaccine

A meeting report on the VACSATC training work package and University of Antwerp summer school activities will be published in Vaccine. The article is available online now. A summer school on vaccinology: Responding to identified gaps in pre-service training of future health care workers.

Polish website accredited

The Szczepienia.info website has been evaluated by the WHO Vaccine Safety Net and added to the list of websites providing information on vaccine safety which adhere to good information practices. For more information visit Szczepienia.info.

Eurovaccine posters

Two electronic posters on the VACSATC project were presented at the Eurovaccine conference in Stockholm
on Friday, December 11, 2009.

Universal Doctor

A collection of tools for doctor-patient communication were demonstrated at the meeting in Madrid. The tools, called Universal Doctor, include videos and leaflets in different languages which use clear visual messages. There is also the Universal Doctor speaker, a computer assisted translation programme. The increasing mobility of people across country borders makes communication more and more challenging and the Universal Doctor instruments can be a helpful addition to traditional methods. Eurovaccine conference announced

ECDC held the first European conference on vaccination and immunisation in Stockholm on Friday, December 11, 2009. There was also be a webcast of the conference. Eurovaccine is to become a yearly event.

Positive thoughts on VACSATC

At the Madrid meeting positive comments from the partners were collected. These have been added to the website for inspiration. For a dose of positivity see the partner comments page.

Two more websites have recently been submitted for WHO Vaccine Safety Net evaluation:

Poster at ESCAIDE

A poster titled Increasing the accessibility of science-based information on vaccine safety through the internet was presented at The 2009 ‘European Scientific Conference on Applied Infectious Disease Epidemiology’ (ESCAIDE), Stockholm, Sweden, 26-28 October 2009. View the poster in PDF format.

Madrid meeting

A final project meeting was held in Madrid 21-22 September 2009.

Article on VACSATC published

An article named 'VACSATC (Vaccine safety: attitudes, training and communication): Why such a project?' was published in Eurosurveillance 23 April 2009.

Summer school on vaccinology

An international Summer School on Vaccinology was held 9-15 July 2009 in Antwerp, Belgium. The summer school is an initiative of the Centre for the Evaluation of Vaccination at the University of Antwerp in partnership with the European Medical Students Association (EMSA).

Poster at ESPID

A poster titled "TRAINING OF NURSE, MIDWIFE AND MEDICAL STUDENTS IN VACCINOLOGY: BENCHMARKING EXERCISE IN EUROPE" was presented at the 27th Annual Meeting of the European Society for Paediatric Infectious Diseases (June 11 and June 12, 2009).

Websites progressing

Two websites have recently been submitted to the WHO Vaccine Safety Net for evaluation. The Polish site http://szczepienia.pzh.gov.pl and the Norwegian site http://www.fhi.no/vaksine.

Meeting in Ljubljana

Meetings for Work Packages 5, 6 and 7 and the Steering Board were held in Ljubljana, Slovenia 4-5 December 2008.

Attitudinal studies tool kit

Work in WP5 is progressing and a version of a Tool Kit for conducting attitudinal studies has been produced. A review of available literature on attitudes to immunisations has also been conducted and summarised in a document.

VACSATC presented at NorVac

The VACSATC project was presented at the Nordic Vaccine meeting in Mariehamn, Åland, Finland on the 5 September 2008.

Linked database survey

In connection with the WP4 meeting in Vienna a survey was carried out. It was designed to investigate progress in different European countries when it comes to linked database studies on vaccine safety. The results show that usage of registers varies widely. All respondents were interested in future collaborations.

Vienna meeting

Work Package meetings for WP4 and WP7 took place in Vienna, Austria 12-13 May 2008.

Antwerp meeting

Work Package meetings for WP5 and WP6 and a Steering Board meeting took place in Antwerp, Belgium the 20th - 21st February 2008.

Second meeting

A second project meeting took place in London, England the 26th - 28th June 2007.

First meeting

A first project meeting took place in Lund, Sweden the 11th and 12th October 2006.
